king;; the king is the dictator. his word is law. period. end of story. there hasn't been a 'queen' (same rank, different name) in the past five generations.
duke/duchess;; the king's 'right hand', as it were. he is second in command and answers only to the king. the only way a duke can exist is if the king hand picks him. challenges will go unanswered for this position.
baron/baroness;; these horses are loyal to the king but have their own herd. a baron must have been a loyal member of the Own for at least a year before allowed to obtain his own harem.
favored;; these horses are all mares. they have either the most beauty or the most intelligence, or some other gene that the king wishes to pass along in his offspring. being favored by the king is a great honor. also, these mares can have a 'love' other than the king, but only the king may sire her foals.
lord;; these horses are full members of the Own. they have very few rights, but they lead a very comfortable life even though they are the fighting force of the herd. by the king's decree, they can sire foals from any lady. the goal of lords is to generally become the duke or king.
lady;; these horses are full members of the Own. they have very few rights, but they lead a very comfortable life even though they are the fighting force of the herd. by the king's decree, they can foal by any member of the Own not a slave. the goal of ladies is generally become 'favored'.
slave;; these horses are forced to stay with the Own. generally, they are the losers of challenges that were not killed or prisoners of war. they are given a very harsh life, but at least they are alive.

[/li][li] if you wish to be a "baron", make sure you put in your history how long the horse was a member of the Own [/li][li] you can put in your application lord, lady, or slave. [/li][li] if you want to put in your application that your horse is "favored", clear it with Alanna. MEMBERS [/size] [/li][li] the king's word is law. [/li][li] the penalty for disobeying the king or duke is death. [/li][li] a baron cannot command a lord/lady or another baron/baroness. [/li][li] slaves are just that. they answer to every other member of the Own. [/li][li] all members of loyal lesser herds are not members of the Own unless placed in a lesser herd as a spy.
